MEDEA
MEDEA is an adaptation of the ancient Greek tragedy that utilizes live cameras & archival footage to explore catharsis, feminine rage and anachronistic dissonance. Emerging from a morbid curiosity into how images, gestures, or expressions of rage filtered through a fictional frame can release feelings of anger in a non-violent way, MEDEA forces us to confront the rageful desires within ourselves as we experience the catharsis of Medea’s tragedy and the satisfaction of her triumph.
This piece was composed of snippets of various adaptations and translations of Euripides’ Medea, along with devised text composed by the performance company of MEDEA.
